Bellefonte Is the Best Fly Fishing Town in Pennsylvania! Members of the Pennsylvania fly-fishing community at PaFlyFish.com resoundingly selected Bellefonte in a recent poll as the Best Fly-Fishing Town in Pennsylvania. The town was chosen not only for the close proximity to the many wonderful streams in the area, but its hospitality, shops, dining and accomodations. With a lodging named the Riffles and Runs Bed and Breakfast, how can this not be a wonderful fly fishing town? Anglers enjoy the world-class fly-fishing waters of Spring Creek that meanders through the town. Other prominent streams such as Penns Creek, Fishing Creek, Spruce Creek and the Little Juniata River are all in close proximity too. The mountain fed and limestone streams provide cool productive waters throughout the year that are a delight to fly fishing enthusiasts. Why should you come to Bellefonte to Fish? We love anglers!
There are five world-famous fishing streams within a 1/2 hour drive. Cold, clean, limestone water at a constant 52 degrees--no freeze means year-round access. Spring Creek is reported to have the highest number of wild fish in PA. The Fisherman's Paradise public fishing preserve on Spring Creek is close by. Great local tackle shops and bed and breakfasts that specialize in anglers.
The area has an active Trout Unlimited Chapter and the US Youth National Flyfishing Team is Headquartered in nearby State College.

Status Update: Caboose and Snow Plow Project The Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society (BHRS) has established a special fund to receive donations for the preservation and repair of the Bellefonte Central Railroad wooden Caboose and Snow Plow on display behind the Bellefonte Train Station and owned by the Borough of Bellefonte. A few donations have already been received or pledged. The pledges include a generous one from Dick and Mimi Robey, owners of the North Shore Railroads. More funds are needed to take the first necessary preservation steps. The initial need is for funds to stabilize the roof leaks and to pay for an expert evaluation to be performed and a preservation plan prepared by the Strasburg Railroad experts. In addition to the preservation work, the Society would like to see a shelter roof placed over the cars to shield them from the effects of weather. These historic railroad cars are a part of Bellefonte history and can be saved for future generations. More information on them can be found on the BHRS web site: www.bellefontetrain.com. Donations can be sent to the BHRS, 320 West High Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823. Please designate the donation clearly for the Caboose and Snow Plow Project. The Society will also be attempting to get grant funding, once the preservation plan is completed. ********** Bellefonte Intervalley Area Chamber Members STILL Qualify for a Free Night at the Queen B&B Where’s the best place in Centre County to get trapped in a storm?
